• The 2016-2017 Seasons Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcars Series comes to life this Saturday night at Heartland Raceway Echuca/Moama for round one of the fifteen round Series with a class field of drivers nominated along with a host of top line sponsors to complement the Series.

Defending 2015-2016 Eureka series Champion Brett Milburn heads the list of nominations who will be joined by a brigade of hard chargers and past Eureka Series round winners. Tim Rankin is no stranger to the Series podium and he will be joined by three other drivers that are regular Eureka Garages Sheds Series winners when they are in the field, Grant Anderson who is in good form and is coming of the back of winning the Avalon Raceway $10,000 Jackpot Invitational race.

Also nominated is the seven time SRA / Eureka Series Champion Matthew Reed, both Matthew and Grant Anderson would have to go into the opening round of the Series as two of the favourites.

Two times Australian Sprintcar Champion David Murcott will be stepping into the Victorylane Racegear V88 for this opening round of the Series, it has been some time since Murcott has circulated around the venue but his credentials should have him on the pace quickly and also a top chance for a win on the night.

Corey McCullagh and Tim Van Ginneken both took out their maiden Eureka Series wins last season in the two rounds conducted at Simpson Speedway which is one of the most demanding Speedways in the Series, a strong performance from both drivers is not out of the question on the big track at Heartland Raceway.

Jye Okeeffe is a driver with a lot of talent, Jye went so close to taking a round win last season, the consistency from this fast racer saw Jye take fourth place in the Eureka Garages & sheds Series last season, he will be looking for a top five to kick of his Series campaign this season.

The field of nominations will have five states and one Territory represented, Western Australia will have Scott Rielly, South Australian Series regulars Glen Sutherland and Ashley Scott will be joined by Tim Hutchins who enjoyed the Series and will be back representing Tasmania with Fast Eddie Lumbar flying the flag for New South Wales along with Brendan Scorgie and David Mckay running for the ACT and not forgetting a host of Victorian drivers.

Luke Walker from Victoria’s western district finish in ninth place in the standings last season and has committee to all rounds this season, Luke and his team are regular A main runners with consistent performances up the sharp end of the field.

Jacob Smith also another of Victoria’s western district drivers has stepped up their racing campaign for this season, at the recent Jackpot Invitational race meeting Jacob showed very good car speed and should be on the pace this weekend.

Victorian Sprintcar racing is continuing in good health with many new up and coming drivers that joined the ranks last season, three of those drivers that were very impressive that have entered for round one of the 2016-2017 Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series and are now familiar with the Heartland Raceway are Brayden Parr who was voted the most improved driver last season.

Jordyn Charge took out the season overall rookie of the year and Rusty Hickman who only had a limited programme last season due to a broken leg showed he will be a force in the Sprintcar ranks in the future.

Rusty was the young man to beat at the final SRA race meeting last season when he lead a hotly contested SRA 360 Hickman Challenge at Heartland Raceway only to tag the wall with a few laps remaining and having to retire with a flat tyre.

With over thirty nominations for round one of the Eureka Garages & Sprintcar Series booked in for this Saturday night at Heartland Raceway this will be another strong start to the fifteen round Series and a night of fast and furious action.
