• This Saturday night the 22nd of October see’s Goulburn Valley Motorsport venue Rushworth Speedway fire up for the huge 16/17 season ahead of the Goulburn Valley Auto Club with the AMCA Nationals division visiting with competitors from all over Victoria in the nominations list.

Sharon Tindal who is a Goulburn Valley favourite, will be mixing it with the boys on her home track with the likes of Jamie Collins and Tim Reidy whom are both multiple times state champions across Australia in the field to make it just that little bit of a challenge plus add the Mills boys Jamie & Matt, hard chargers like Paul Sullivan, Frank Thierry & Dean Heseltine & a number of other competitors who are looking to have an impact on the feature race result & you have one heck of a battle coming up.

The AMCA machines run with engines from 253 V8 powered to crate engine 350s. The crowd loves the sound of the eight cylinders and in cars that are tightly controlled, the competition is always close.

Marsh Modified Sedans are the other visiting division at the first event of the season & a small yet competitive field should provide great entertainment. Tim Knight, Jacko Knight, Garry Kakoschke & Nash Harris are all keen to get amongst it.

All the Goulburn Valley Club members are very keen to go racing with all four classes attracting a mixture of the old & new, a welcome site to the hard working volunteers who have put together a great track for this weekend’s racing.

In Open Saloons Adam Box, Peter Welch, Phil Lamb the number one driver of the class & Jay Nicolaisen are keen to get behind the wheel. Welch had too much time off the track last season and is as keen as he ever has been to get the season off with the right foot planted deep on the pedal. V8’s mix it up with Modified 6 Cylinders and you just never know how things are going to pan out.

Production Sedans was a tough division to win in last season & with a number of new competitors this season, it should be more of the same. Bevan Hutchins, Wayne O’Keefe, Leigh Jeffery & even regular Compact Speedcar racer Geoff Meyers is keen to get to the track this weekend.

In Junior Saloons the field looks like it is going to be increased once again this season Daniel Smith, Tristan McGraw, Josh Cecil, Lachlan Fitzpatrick, Kodye Basten & Issiah Hodge all ready for a steer. The Juniors compete in cars that they can progress straight into senior racing with once they come of age. It is anybody’s pick as to who is going to win this weekend.

Finally, we reach the Ladies Sedan field & this division grew & grew last season with a number of girls finishing the season behind the wheel after some early low car counts. Belinda Chalcraft, Chloe Lamb, Jacquie Fitzpatrick & Kelly Nadort are just some of the girls that are in for a great battle at the first event of the season.

Racing begins at 4pm with entry costs adult $25, Family of 2 Adults and 2 Kids $60 whilst any child under 12 is FREE. Aged Pension is $15 or you can take out a club membership for the season and pay $12.50 for adults at each meeting or $30 for the family ticket.
