• The 2016/2017 Ultimate Sprintcar Championship kicks off at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway this Saturday night and a record car count including the defending USC Champion has entered.

Speedway Australia “Competitor of the Year” and 2015/2016 USC Champion Jamie Veal has nominated for the USC opener in his all-conquering #35 SWI Engineering Maxim but he’s in for a torrid time at the Hi-Tec high banks.

The defending QLD USC Champion Robbie Farr has kicked off his 2016/2017 campaign with a first night victory in Brisbane last weekend and comes into the USC opener at “T-Bar” in cracking form.

Veal and Farr will be joined by a whopping 35 other USC entries for the biggest and arguably strongest field in USC QLD and Toowoomba history.

The entry list boasts a stunning array of drivers from Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales for the $10,000 to win affair.

Veal comes into his first Australian night for the season after racing extensively in the USA as does Sydneysider Toby Bellbowen who has spent the last month racing in California with car owner and friend Pete Murphy.

Iconic Tasmanian born Queensland based Sedan star Darren Kane makes his USC debut in the Ian Boettcher Race Parts Cool car as he dives into the deep end of Sprintcar Racing in his ‘rookie’ season.

The event is expected to attract a spectacular looking field as well with many teams debuting their new colour schemes and warpaint on Saturday night.

Several USC rookies will compete as well as lady racers Kristy Bonsey (QLD) and Cordi O’Hehir – the latter will no doubt benefit from her time spent at the Robbie Farr Ultimate Driving School last month where she received expert driving and set up tutelage from Farr and crew chief Nick Speed.

This Saturday’s event is the first of 48 scheduled nights of USC competition held between QLD, SA, VIC and NSW in 2016/2017 at Hi- Tec Oils Speedway Toowoomba, Murray Machining & Sheds Speedway, Premier Speedway Warrnambool and Valvoline Raceway.

USC Championships will be staged in all four of those States and an overall USC Champion will be crowned in April 2017.

Following Toowoomba’s staging of the USC QLD Round One this weekend the focus will then shift to Sydney’s iconic Valvoline Raceway for Round One of the USC NSW Championship.

The week after sees the historic unveiling of the USC SA competition at the newly refurbished Murray Bridge venue.
