• Now with the 2015-2016 Sprintcar season over in Victoria that had the biggest season ever conducted by the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria Inc the new 2016-2017 season is looking to be nearly as big with a full calendar of racing that has potentially some thirty two plus events on the books and one or two events yet to be announced that will see the season go from mid October 2016 to late April 2017.

    Heading into the new season the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria is very please to able to announce that Eureka Garages & Sheds are continuing their involvement with the SRA thru the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series as the naming rights sponsor for a staggering fourteen season. Thanks to Domenic Sabatino and all his staff from the many Eureka Garages & Sheds braches that continues to expand right around Victoria and across the borders and the recent opening of Eureka Garages & Sheds in Italy.

    The popularity of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series has the Series booked in for a fifteen round contest in 2016-2017 with both Horsham’s Blue Ribbon Raceway and Redline Raceway Ballarat joining in this season, Swan Hill Raceway also requested a round of the Series but due to the full calendar a suitable date could not be found for this season.

    The SRA is also pleased to confirm that KTM Australia is continuing the relationship between KTM and the SRA in the Eureka Series as one of the major sponsors along with Hoosier Tire Australia thanks to both Jeff Leisk from KTM and Max Dumesny of Hoosier Tires Australia. A further release on the Series sponsors will be forth coming in the near future plus the announcement very Shorty on a new sponsor that will be another major sponsor in the Eureka Series.

    So while the new season is looking amazingly strong once again the final official event of the 2015-2016 season was the annual SRA Presentation dinner that had the overall season awards handed out plus the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series Prize poole monies, Series sponsor awards and the most sort after KTM motorbike won on the night.

    With the Eureka Series top three banners a brand new KTM motorbike and Brett Millburn’s Sprintcar on display along with all the season’s sponsors logos displayed around the room and over one hundred and seventy people in attendance from sponsors, driver’s and their teams, families, SRA members and invited guest a good night was had by all.

    The 2015-2016 seasons Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria Inc award winners were:

    The best presents car and crew of the year was taken out by Luke Walker and his team Luke Walker Racing (V67).

    The Encouragement award went to Kristy Ellis (V12), Kristy was so excited and appreciative to receive this award.

    The most improved driver of the year went to Brayden Parr (V77).

    Rookie of the Season was taken out by Jordyn Charge (V60).

    Both Brayden and Jordyn are two young drivers that are very worthy recipients of their awards and both drivers are heading to be stars of the future.

    The SRA 360 Sprintcar season aggregate was won by Matthew Reed, Brenton Farrer took second place while Dion Bellman was third.

    The SRA 2015-2016 Season overall aggregate, 1st place went to Jamie Veal, 2nd Darren Mollenoyux, 3rd Brett Milburn.

    The SRA officials received a token of appreciation for their efforts during the season.

    Vice President Kevin McCullum presented long serving SRA official Lisa Van Der Elst with a well deserved SRA Life Membership.

    The Club person of the year went to SRA official Marcus Hocking while the President award went to the happy chap the driver of the V64 machine David Aldersley.

    MC of the night Brett Swanston thanked all the SRA and Eureka Series Sponsors for their contributions for the season.

    Heading into the final part of the evening and it was time to present the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series awards.

    Essendon Mitsubishi award of $1000 for the most cars passed in the Eureka Series A mains went to John Vogels.

    Eliminator Race Wings award for the driver that transferred from the B Main to the A Main the most was taken out by Jye Okeeffe, Jye received a new top wing for his efforts from Eliminator Race Wings.

    Metric Men award for the most heat wins in the Eureka Series went to Brett Milburn, Brett recived a new tool chest.

    Paul Sabatino presented the drivers from 4th place thru to 10th place in the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series with their plagues and prize poole monies.
    4th Jye Okeeffe, 5th Shaun Dobson, 6th Glen Sutherland, 7th John Vogels, 8th Adam King, 9th Luke Walker and in 10th place Dennis Jones.

    Parr Motorsports Drivers driver award as voted on by his fellow competitors went Brett Milburn, Brett received a crystal plague along with a complete new front end from Parr Motorsports.

    Essendon Ford trip for two to Port Douglas to stay in luxury accommodation for five nights for the drivers that finish between 11th and 20th place in the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series by way of a random draw went the V71 driver Brayden Parr.

    Paul Sabatino, brother of Domenic who was away on business setting up another branch and plant of Eureka Garages & Sheds in Italy stepped up on stage to present the top three of the Series with their trophies and a major part of the $40,000 plus prize poole money. First up 3rd place man Corey McCullagh followed by Darren Mollenoyux 2nd and the new 2015-2016 Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series Champion Brett Milburn.

    Each of the drivers thanked Eureka Garages & Sheds along with KTM, Hoosier Tire and all the other Series sponsors as well as their teams and friends before receiving their final awards of an action shot photo from Corey Gibson Photography.

    The final award of the night, the drawing of the winner for the new KTM 250 EXC Motorbike thanks to Jeff Leisk and KTM Australia.

    Paul Sabatino drew the first number out that was put away without being viewed, then each driver was eliminated as there number was drawn out until there were two drivers left standing, John Vogels who had been in this situation before and Adam King and the final elimination was John Vogels leaving Adam King to win the KTM Motorbike. Adam was quick to thank KTM for such a magnificent prize and some words for the help from his team over the season.

    It was a good thing Brett Milburn brought his sprintcar on a trailer behind his Ute as he was going to need the room to take all his awards home. It certainly was a good season for Brett that was reflected on at the end of the night with the awards he received.

    As stated earlier a few events are yet to be finalized for the 2016-2017 dates but there will plenty of action for everyone. The Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series is booked in for a fifteen round Series while the Victorian Open Sprintcar will head to Premier Speedway and double up with round five of the Eureka Series. The Victoria 360 Sprintcar Title heads to Western Speedway Hamilton. Nearly half of the Sprintcar meetings conducted & assisted with by the SRA will pay between $5,000 and up to $30,000 to win and each of these events will have good prize money right throughout the fields.
