Round #11 of the AHG Sprintcar Series at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday will see the local heroes battling it out with the ENZED World Series Sprintcars stars.

And you can bet they will all be relishing the opportunity to step it up a notch.

Naturally the west coast contingent will be aiming to bank as many AHG Sprintcar Series points as possible - after all there are only four more rounds to go to decide the 2015-16 Championship.

And three of those will also be World Series Sprintcars rounds.

So, to take the 2015-16 AHG honours you will have to perform on a bigger stage.

Currently we see Brad Maiolo leading the way on 1730 points, followed by his older brother Jamie Maiolo 1682, Jason Kendrick 1626, Lee Nash 1588, Daryl Clayden 1554, rookie Mitchell Wormall 1546 and Shaun Bradford 1514.

Only Jamie Maiolo has won the AHG Sprintcar Series previously - seven times in fact - so if he does not take it out again, we will see a new Champion crowned.

The previous WSS rounds at the Kwinana venue - 16 in total - have only seen one local driver stand on the top step of the podium.

That was David Priolo back in the 2011-12 season.

On four occasions the Perth Motorplex has hosted two-night rounds and two of the Preliminary main events have also gone to WA based drivers - Ken Sartori and Cameron Gessner.

So winning a WSS round will be tough for the local contingent - but not impossible.

In total we have had five WA drivers who have won a WSS round.
Ryan Farrell has claimed 5 victories (Manjimup 2, Bunbury, Kalgoorlie, Albany) - and he also had a Motorplex win in the bag until he climbed over the wheel of a car about to be lapped and crashed out of contention.

The "Bunbury Bullet" Ron Krikke scored two wins at Claremont, while the "Geraldton Jet" Mark Wells notched a success at both Claremont and Bunbury.

"Mr Sprintcar" Alf Barbagallo took out the inaugural WSS round at Claremont, while David Priolo has won at the Motorplex.

It will be very interesting to see who will be the "top dog" at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday evening.
