• Jamie Veal took his second Eureka Garages and Sheds Series win this season at Premier Speedway last night with a powerful driving display in the second part of the race to defeat early race leader Steven Lines from Brooke Tatnell who filled third place ahead of Australia Sprintcar Champion David Murcott home in fourth.

While Veal eventually took the win he did take all the cash possible on the night, thanks to the Series sponsors, Eureka Garages & Sheds and Premier Speedway there was an added incentive in the Main event of $100 going to the driver that lead each lap, a possible pick up of $3000. Steven Lines took $1800 of that to give Jamie Veal the balance of $1200.

Time trials opened the evening’s proceedings that saw good times recorded right throughout the session with some very creditable times from many of the Eureka Series regulars against some of best drivers in the country. With points applied for the time trials and the two heats races for the drivers this would set the grids for the finals, the top six qualifiers would line up in the A Main as per the best time in time trials.

The heat races went through with relative ease and without any major carnage that also saw some very good racing. The second round of heats with the reverse grids gave the healthy crowd plenty to cheer about with plenty of passing using the entire race track. Ten heat races later and the top fourty drivers on points were locked and loaded into the nights main events.

One drive to miss the main events on the night was South Australian Daniel Pestka, Daniel was the innocent party who receiving damage to put him out of his first heat race only to suffer another DNF in his next heat from a front suspension issue that was not detected from the first heat race incident.

The C Main was again over ten laps with Local racer Stephen Bell taking the win from the South Australia pair of Brock Hallett home second and Jake Tranter in third place while Ian Loudoun from New South Wales took fourth place and the last transfer spot in the B Main.

Three of the past Eureka Garages & Sheds Series Champions had found themselves in the last chance B Main, Darren Mollenoyux took the win with a flag to flag victory from Adam King, Nick Lacey, John Vogels who had come from the mid pack, with Peter Doukas taking fifth place and Ryan Davis narrowly defeating the 2013-2014 Eureka Series Champ Shaun Dobson for the final transfer spot.

With both the C and B Mains completed in nonstop flag to flag races the final grid was set for the all import A Main event to be raced over thirty laps.

The Eureka Garages & Sheds Main events was set with a star studded field of National and International drivers, from pole position was W3 Steven Lines, in position two was V35 Jamie Veal followed by Act66 Tim Rankin, V68 Brett Milburn, NQ25 James McFadden, USA’s driver in W17 Kyle Hirst, W2 Brooke Tatnell, A1 David Murcott, V90 Corey McCullagh, V42 Jye Okeeffe, V73 Charles Hunter, W49 Ryan Jones, V77 Darren Mollenoyux, V48 Adam King, V26 Nick Lacey, V70 John Vogels, V98 Peter Doukas and starting from position eighteen was V95 Ryan Davis.

Lines won the start going into turn one from Veal, Rankin and Milburn and wasted no time to try and open a gap back to Veal. Lap three and McFadden taps the main straight wall bouncing down track to make slight contact with Murcott that would drop the A1 driver down two spot before he regained his composure. Up front Veal was keeping a steady gap to Lines while Rankin and Eureka Series points leader Milburn were fighting over third place followed by both Tatnell and Hirst, ahead of McFadden, Jones, McCullagh and Murcott rounding out the top ten order.

One third race distance and the leaders were into lapped traffic, Veal closed looking to make a pass on Lines and executing the move only for the caution lights to come on for McFadden who hit the turn three wall that would put him out of the running and put Veal back behind Lines on the restart.

Back under way with Lines in clean air and he was making the most of it and open a small gap back to Veal, Rankin was looking good in third place only for a mechanical issue that would see him slow and eventually roll into the infield leaving Tatnell to take over third place followed by Milburn who now had Murcott on his tail. Back up front and into traffic again Lines was looking good putting a couple of cars between himself and Veal.

That would be short lived though when Veal cleared the lapped traffic he wasted no time to catch and pass Lines to take the lead at two thirds distance before putting his car into another gear and clearing out leaving Lines in a lonely race of his own. Behind the two leaders the action was with Tatnell, Milburn and now Murcott while Hirst was fading. As the laps wound down Veal was in control to go on and take his second Eureka Garages & Sheds Series feature win in three weeks at Premier Speedway.

As the drivers crossed the finish line behind Veal, Lines took a well deserved second place from Brooke Tatnell who was having his first drive for the season in Australia in the Krikke Motorsports car from the Australian Champion David Murcott who demoted the current Eureka Garages & Sheds Series points leader Brett Milburn to fifth place with a few laps to go, sixth place went to Corey McCullagh and Kyle Hirst in seventh place and the last car on the lead lap. Round out the other finishes were, Ryan Jones, Ryan Davis, Darren Mollenoyux, John Vogels, Charles Hunter, Jye Okeeffe, Peter Doukas, Adam King and Nick Lacey.

The Eureka Garage & Sheds Sprintcar Series will now have a few weeks break before returning to Premier Speedway for round six of the Series doubling as a special tribute to Max Dumesny as well as another round of the USC Parr Motorsport track Championship on Saturday the 19th of December 2015.
