• This weekend (Saturday October 10) Adelaide’s Speedway City will open its gates on its 20th racing season with an all sections program with the main attractions being the opening Speedcar show of the 2015/16 South Australian season along with Round 2 of the newly established JD Couriers Super Series.

The Speedcar event has attracted a quality line-up of local competitors and considering it is their opening race of the year the number of nominations is extremely encouraging. Leading the entry list are the likes of Ben Hall, Graham Knuckey, Todd Bennett, Jamie Crouch and Darryl Knuckey. Another interesting nomination is that of regular Sprintcar racer Luke Bowey, who will be driving for car owner Rick McKay.

The JD Couriers Super Series event has only attracted a small field but the racing should be extremely close with last weekend’s winner Dave Gartner taking on Michael Miller, in the Steve and Wendy Stewart owned #47 Dominator, young gun Ryan Alexander, Paul “Blenk’s” Blenkiron, Graham Stewart and rookie Daniel Obst.

In addition to the Speedcars and Super Sedans the meeting will also feature Wingless Sprints, Street Stocks, AMCA Nationals, Late Models and Junior Sedans.

In the Wingless Sprints expect to see Murray Bridge opening night winner Robert Heard, who is also a former Track Champion at Speedway City, towards the front of the pack along with Matthew Kennedy, Anthony Tapley, William Caruso and Jake Ashworth. The field will also include Spencer Taylor and Jaime-Lee Andrews, both of whom will be making their Speedway City debuts.

The Street Stocks will be out in force with a strong line-up that includes Darren Flatman, Tony Prideaux and Neville Nitschke while the Junior Sedans have attracted the biggest field of the night with 14 of the pocket rockets expected to compete on the 430 metre clay way including Kooper Greig, Nathan Thorne, Sharni & Tamika Pitcher, Kye Richardson and last weekend's winner Trae Ballantyne.

After last weekend the AMCA National main event may prove to be a shootout between Steve Letts and Wayne Vickers, after the latter stole the feature win away from Letts on the finish line. Also expect to see Jake Armstrong, Leanne Turner, Jason Robinson and Michael Sharpe towards the front in what promises to be an entertaining class of racing.

Finally a small field of Late Models will be on hand along with a 410ci Sprintcar or two after the invitation was sent out to conduct a few hot laps in preparation for the 30th Anniversary of the Oxford Insurance Brokers Australian Sprintcar Masters on November 7, 2015.

    Adults: $20
    Concession: $15
