• Team Galley Motorsport returned to the winners list on Sunday the 28th of June at Nyora Raceway, when Ty Galley behind the wheel of his Modified Toyota Lexcen survived a torrid affair, slicing & dicing through traffic with competitor & family friend Stephen Laidlaw & swapping the lead during the fifty lap race before Galley secured the win over Brendan Miller & Scott Laidlaw.

Earlier competing in two heat races Galley was able to come from seventh to second in his first heat before backing that up with a fourth place start to a win in his second heat race. Heat results put Galley into third place to start the final behind Leigh Bourke & Laidlaw.

After the feature win Ty got to share victory with Laidlaw as he waited for Galley to reach him after a victory lap & the two shared an emotional embrace of commiseration for Galley who fell short a second time in his last two attempts at winning the race, whilst also rejoicing at the victory Galley had taken.

The fifty lap ‘Bob Hickson Memorial – Southern 2000’ is always a race of attrition with twenty three starters this season including Production, Modified, Division 2 Hot Rod, Standard Saloons, Unlimited Sedans, Sports Sedans & V8 Super Sedans all mixed together registered as Open Sedans for the day.

An initial false start after a spin to a driver in the pack meant the field restarted where Laidlaw assumed the front of the race with Bourke & Galley chasing. Galley soon picked off Bourke & Miller followed him through.

Laidlaw, Galley, Miller, Matt Nelson, Wayne Ramsdale, Bourke, Dylan Campton & Lucas Conder where an initial pack of drivers carving through the field dodging as back markers slapped each other around trying to gain position.

Laps on the slower cars where being consistently being made with some cars quick three & four laps behind.

Within sight of a win Laidlaw’s car broke and Galley swooped to the lead to bring the # 88 machine to victory lane.

Galley had this to say. “What a race! Thank you so very much to everybody who supports our race team, you & all your services & products are fantastic & we appreciate your support. To mum, dad & Luke, thank you for all everything, it’s all that more enjoyable to always have you with me when we race. To Stephen, thank you for the way you race, thank you for your advice over the years & let’s come back and do it again next. “

The track was sensational and Galley noted that also. “To Nyora, what a great day regardless if I’d been the winner or not, you put on a great track, well done to you all.”
