• Wahgunyah Speedway will fire up for the second last time this season this Saturday afternoon at 2pm & run into the night with the annual visit from the Super Sedan fraternity headlined by current defending ‘QA Kitchens Murray River Rumble’ winner Peter Nicola whilst the prestigious Standard Saloon ‘Howie Memorial’ supported by Neil’s Parts will be defended by last seasons winner & current Victorian champion Scott Whittle as fans sit back and watch over one hundred competitors go to battle.

The program is further bulked up with the ‘Hooks Automotive’ Sports Sedan Slam a third feature on a great night of racing along with Goulburn Ovens Sedan Association, Ladies Sedans & Junior Sedans.

The Super Sedans ‘Murray River Rumble’ is also the last round of the Victorian state series for the division with competition for the series win coming right down to the wire between Bendigo based racers Ash Bergmeier & Brad Wicks. They will be looking to out do each other whilst Nicola has his sights on a three peat. Nicola’s nephew Mick Jnr is also in the field along with Shane Belk sitting fourth in the points table, Lucas Roberts a multiple times state champion of Victoria & another starter will be Queensland’s Trent Wilson.

The Standard Saloon ‘Howie Memorial’ defending winner Whittle will have stiff competition with the likes of recent Wangaratta winner Nick Chrystie, perennial Wahgunyah race winner Warrick Howie & brother of Lachlan for whom the race is in honour of, Mark Miles whom currently sits second in the state aggregate & is Victorian # 2 & Geoff Bowers who is a local Corowa club member & is always in the thick of the action.

The ‘Hooks Automotive’ Sport Sedan Slam has attracted strong competition from the likes of Rahmon Rivero, Rhys Collins who leads the state Sports Sedan aggregate, Ben Moon the Victorian Sports Sedan champion, James Powell a Wangaratta club member having a strong season behind the wheel & Martin Heiner who has run into form just in time for the event having finished on the podium at Wangaratta two weeks ago.

The Goulburn Ovens Sedan Association will compete in another points round for their season aggregate & last start winner Trevor Mills will find himself in a fiercely contested nights racing with Tom Bowers, Ross Maclean, David Walton, Scott Callendar & the latest big recruit to the division, Ford stalwart Albury’s Rodney Anderson. Mills is an expert around Wahgunyah Speedway & is the head of the track preparation crew, everybody awaits to see how juicy the track is going to be this Saturday.

The Ladies Sedan field is sitting at around near a dozen entries which is great for the girls as they continue to grow in numbers. Georgette Meunier is a favourite in the field whilst there will be close competition between Kim Eames, Fleur Heiner & Alyce Iaria & in the Junior Sedans numbers are a little light however Liam Powell & Jack Milthorpe have been having some ripper battles recently.

Racing begins Saturday afternoon at 2pm with almost forty race events to get through, public admission gates open from eleven & runs into the night no later than 10.30pm. The track provides on site catering for those that don’t quite bring enough food and drinks or want to eat something cooked fresh at the track.

Adults will pay $20 to get in and watch the entertainment. Aged pensioners pay $15. Kids 10 to up to 16 years age $10 and 9 year olds and under are free and enquiries can be made to Nicole Jackson on 0438 635 535
