• WINNING the feature race in the first round of the AHG Triple Crown at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night could pay off in more ways than one for Ryan Farrell.

Not only has it given him a good start to the mini-series that will wrap up WA’s sprintcar season but it also gives him an advantage heading into the series grand final at the same venue on April 18.

The format has been mixed up a bit for the final three shows including rewarding the feature race winners from the first two rounds (last night’s event and next Saturday night’s feature).

Both winners will automatically qualify for the Top 8 Knockout round on Grand Final night, so if we have two different feature race winners that means only six other spots are up for grabs.

As we saw on Saturday night the Knockout series was a big hit with the fans and became a game of strategy for the drivers.

Farrell, who won the first Knockout round, said he enjoyed the format, saying it was a bit of “old school” in a throwback to his early racing career where he learnt the craft against some of WA’s big names at the time.

Teams and racefans don’ have long to wait for the next round as it all happens again this Easter Saturday.

Another good field has nominated including the return of Ken Sartori for Watsons Express Transport.

The upcoming event will be the DiCandilo Steel City Silver Cup.

Round 2 nominations: 7 Jason Priolo, 8 David Priolo, 9 Terry Cutts, 12 Daniel Harding, 26 Ryan Farrell, 32 Jake Beard-Miller, 37 Jacob Lucas, 41 Cameron Gessner, 45 Daryl Clayden, 46 Lee Nash, 50 Ken Sartori, 57 Shaun Bradford, 66 Robert Watson, 73 Callum Williamson, z77 Bradley Maiolo, 87 Carl Dowling, 89 Kye Scroop, 91 Troy Lawson, 92 Jason Kendrick, 94 Aldo De Paoli and 99 Jamie Maiolo.
