• DAVID Priolo is in the history books at the only WA driver to win a round of World Series Sprintcars at the Perth Motorplex, claiming victory there three years ago.

He will be one of the local drivers looking to upstage the high-speed tourists when another round of the national series is held at the Kwinana Beach venue next Saturday night.

Priolo will not only want to stamp his authority against the visiting big guns but also improve his chances of winning the 2014-15 AHG Sprintcar Series with this event also being round 11 of the local competition.

Priolo is third in the points at the moment on 1496, trailing Jason Kendrick’s 1546 and Cameron Gessner’s 1540.

A win in the local series pays 150 points, with 146 for second, 144 for third and two point buffers all the way down the order.

Going against the second-generation racer’s form in recent rounds is how harsh the #8 machine seems to be on left rear tyres.

Priolo has blown a few of them so far this season when being in contention for a podium finish.

How will be go next week?
