The fifteenth round of the Sprintcar Track Championship will be contested at Valvoline Raceway this Saturday night, January 31.

After a busy international period that concluded a fortnight ago with the running of the Scott Darley Challenge, drivers will now focus back on the week to week fixtures that will see the 2014/15 season round out at the end of March.

There are also a number of drivers who travelled to the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Premier Speedway, Warrnambool last weekend and came away with some great results. None more so than Max Johnston who finished 11th in the 40 lap Classic final. No doubt Max will be looking for that great form to continue this Saturday night.

With just seven rounds remaining, the point score at the top of the leader board is a little crowded and it appears likely that the track championship will go down to the wire at the final round on Saturday, March 28.

James Thompson’s outstanding season continues as he leads the points on 3116 with Ben Atkinson just 55 points behind on 3061 and Max Dumesny 82 points behind Thompson on 3034.

Toby Bellbowen (2988), Sam Walsh (2987), Trevor Green (2986), Jackson Delamont (2950), Danny Reidy (2928), Max Johnston (2918) and Marty Perovich (2858) round out the top ten on points.

Apart from the regular SANSW runners, Northern Territorian’s Jason Gebert and Tommy Britton are a welcome addition to the field of 42.

In what has been the most competitive Track Championship in years, a total of 117 drivers have contested a round so far. A massive increase on last season.
