• The Leeton Motor Sports Club has the first of their two annual race meetings this coming Saturday night at Brobenah Raceway with a program packed with action from local & visiting competitors with Production Sedans, Legend Cars, Sports Sedans, Goulburn Ovens Sedans & Standard Saloons all out to entertain motorsport enthusiasts.

The Legend Cars travelling mostly across from Canberra to come racing have proven very popular in Sydney & the ACT & are just trying to spread their wings across to Leeton, Wahgunyah & Wangaratta & they come to Leeton with local raised lad Mitch Watts keen to impress against the ‘Legends’ best.

Michael Cook is an entry racing to entertain employees from the Leeton business Harden Oil Company who support his racing, Michael Hebditch a favourite to take out the win is the big nomination, the exciting Roger Neal is part of the show, the only lady racer coming this Saturday night Ashley Hodak & ACT Champion Paul Opray are amongst the entry list & will all keep Hebditch on his toes.

Like Cook, Hodak has local supporters in the Leeton area from ‘Lube Alloy Race Lubricants’ who are keen to come see her mix it up with the boys.

Production Sedans were to hold the New South Wales title last season however the event was washed out not once, but an unlucky twice & the club were keen to hold it at this race meeting. As it is, instead the club are holding a Christmas Cup & it might just be enough to attract Santa to come and visit the kids.

The event has attracted Neil Keldoulis from Queensland whilst locals Wayne Bourke, Justin & Nathan Hawkins & Paul Whyte along with two times national champion, Victorian Stephen Laidlaw & the ‘showman’ of the bunch, Rodney Anderson from Albury to do battle in the Production Sedan division.

The Climate Technologies Sports Sedan Stampede has a strong field from as far down as Melbourne Eastern Suburbs and across to Shepparton & up to Wagga coming for a run. Rhys Collins is the favourite based on form however Alex Cheney, Danny McCarten, James Powell & Simon Hill are just some of the drivers that could upset the tipsters.

Goulburn Ovens Sedans are competing in an association point score round, their first of the season & Victorian Champion Wayne Williams leads the way in the nominations whilst Mitch Watts will also compete in this division making a busy night for him, Watts could easily win in the Sedan. Brendan Tracy, Ross Maclean, Leeton local Mick Pettit & even Paul Barklem from Wagga in his Gemini could come out the winner.

The Standard Saloons field is still in the process of being sorted, however Warrick Howie, Stuart Densem, Michael Fleming-Robertson & Brendon Eames seem likely to be out front in battle.

Anybody looking for information in regards to race day can contact Wayne on 02 6953 3331. Gates on December the 20th open at 2pm & racing begins from 6pm.

Adults will pay $20- to be entertained, Aged & Disabled pensioners with proof pay $10 to get in & families of two adults and three children to the age of 16 pay a family ticket of $50 & any child under the age of 14 is free entry.
