• Jackson Delamont recorded a thirteenth place finish in round five of the Sprintcar Track Championship at Valvoline Raceway last Saturday night.

Starting from deep in the field (position 18), Jackson made his way forward to once again, score vital points in the track championship at the venue.

“I have been pretty happy with how we have been travelling,” Jackson said today, “we have gone forward each week and that is always a good thing. We just need a bit of luck and start up the front.”

Jackson now sits 13th in the track championship standings, only 96 points off the leader. This is an okay situation for Jackson as we move into the final show before the Christmas/New year period in a fortnight.

“I am pretty comfortable with where we are at. The car seems to be working well with different set ups, so we are looking forward to the next show on December 6.”

Earlier in the night, Jackson set 17th quick from 59 cars. A result that he did not see coming.

“I thought we were in big trouble drawing a late time trial group,” Jackson explained. “The car felt great in hot laps but with the heat from Friday and Saturday, I didn’t think the track would stand up to the cars, but it did, and we were competitive.

“I do think I misjudged the exit out of turn four and that cost me about half a tenth in time trials. That equates to about five spots these days in Sydney. It is just so competitive, and you need to be totally focussed on the job of putting two quick laps together.

“In our heat, I thought we were OK. I got penalised for jumping the start, but that’s racing I guess.”

In the end, it was another solid night for Jackson and his team.

There will now be a week’s break for Jackson Delamont Motorsport, before resuming hostilities on Saturday, December 6 at Valvoline Raceway.
