• Last night the Sunline Speedway at Waikerie hosted Round 4 of the Transport & Warehouse Solutions 360ci South Australian State Series with regular open Sprintcar competitor Brendan Quinn walking away with his second round victory of the season.

In what was a dominant performance Quinn’s only defeat all evening came during time trials, where he timed in fourth fastest, but from that point he stamped his authority on the field as he claimed both of his heats, the pole shuffle and the 25 lap Scotcher Race Fuels & Oils supported Stampede finale.

Unfortunately only nine cars fronted for action at the tight Riverland venue but the racing was quite entertaining. The night began with single car time trials with series point’s leader Sam Putland setting a new track record of 15.094 on an extremely slick racing surface. With the fastest cars being sent to rear the opening round of heats saw Darryl Guerin claim heat 1 before Quinn surged to the front in heat 2 after starting on the second row.

Heat 3 saw the drive of the night as Nicole Hill held out a determined Dan Evans to claim a popular win while Quinn once again greeted the chequered flag first in the final preliminary.

Therefore Quinn went into the Pole Shuffle as the top qualifier and he went on to defeat Dan Evans in the decider but it was Nicole Hill who was the big winner as she moved from position 5 to 3, in somewhat controversial fashion as she moved past Guerin and Putland by virtue of her opponents being disqualified for jumping the start.

Therefore the nine car feature race line-up saw Quinn line up alongside Evans with Hill, Jamie Hendry, Putland, Guerin, Daniel Pestka, Shane Hendry and Darwin’s Jamie McInnes rounding out the field. On what proved to be a one groove race track the passing was minimal throughout the 25 lap event, which went flag to flag, with Quinn winning easily from Evans and Jamie Hendry. For Hendry this was a welcomed return to form after a disappointing start to the season. Fourth went to Nicole Hill who held out Pestka, with the regular 410 racer unable to find a way past Hill for over the 20 laps. Putland held onto the points lead with a sixth placed result while Guerin, Shane Hendry and McInnes rounded out the field 1 lap down.

The Sprintcar Competitors of SA would like to thank Transport & Warehouse Solutions, Cody Corporation, Oval Track Imports and Scotcher Race Fuels & Oils for their support of the 360ci State Series and Rob Stevens and Jenny Lemar for hosting round 4 of the 2014/15 season.
