• The recent theme of competitors nominating for the 2015 Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic has been that of returning champions, Kaeding (2014), Lines (2011 & 2013) and Loudoun (2012) to name just a few prior champions at this juncture. So what if we throw into the mix the 1981 & 1982 Classic Champ? That’s right the man universally known as ‘The Wild Child’ Jac Haudenschild will be returning to Warrnambool.

Having raced Sprintcars with and against the best of the best for more than 40 years, Haudenschild has won a majority of the world’s biggest races including his two Classic triumphs.

These wins include being one of only three drivers to have claimed three or more King’s Royal victories at the famed Eldora Speedway in Haudenschild’s native Ohio.

The Gold Cup Race of Champions is one of the most prestigious events as held on the West Coast of America and it is another that has seen ‘The Wild Child’ stamp his class upon with victories in 1998, 1999 and 2008.

Many Australian race fans are familiar with the Front Row Challenge as held annually at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. It is here that Haudenschild is a part of folklore, being the only driver to have accepted the challenge of going to the rear of the field, before storming through the pack to take the win and the $50,000.00 pay day as it was in 1999.

Add to this already impressive resume, 20 Knoxville Raceway A-Main victories including the 1991 Track Championship, The Historical Big One victory at Eldora in 1993 as well a $200,000.00 pay day at the Mopar Million in the same year also at Eldora. It is easy to say why Jac’s driving talents have been in demand for such a long time.

One such car owner, who has acquired those services, is the proprietor of Indianapolis based Indy Race Parts – Bernie Stuebgen.

Stuebgen has initiated Haudenschild’s whirl wind visit to Sydney in early January then with the assistance of Essendon Ford’s David Dickson and Midwest Imports, ‘The Wild Child’ will head south with his trip culminating in the running of the 43rd Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic.

Along with the input of Stugbgen and the team at Indy Race Parts, David Dickson has again gone above and beyond to ensure a major draw card will be on hand at the Classic with the Essendon Ford front man naturally excited about the impending visit from the renowned crowd favorite.

“I am very, very excited to be a part of this deal, I really think all Speedway fans should be excited to have Jac coming back to the Classic after all these years”, an upbeat Dickson said.

“To have the Essendon Ford brand associated with Jac, Bernie, Indy Race Parts and Midwest Imports the whole deal is just great, I can’t wait to see the car hit the track and hopefully Jac can have a good run and who knows maybe win that third Classic”, he added.

For his visit to Australia Stugbgen has put together a potent combination of Maxim Chassis coupled with a Rider Race Engine as well as all the best race parts to ensure that ‘The Wild Child’ is able to do what he does best!

One thing is for sure, no matter whether it be qualifying, a heat race or the 40 lap Classic finale, there is no question Jac Haudenschild will be in it to win it. For those contemplating a trip to the 2015 Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, you have just been given another reason to perhaps just think that little harder about coming along!

Whilst he may be at the other end of the experience scale, another driver to have thrown his hat into the 2015 Classic ring is Tasmanian young gun Jamie Bricknell.

Bricknell’s exploits at Sungold Stadium in recent seasons, including at big events such as the Classic and the 2011 Australian Sprintcar Championship have been very impressive.

With father Steve and his loyal band of crew always turning out immaculate equipment, Bricknell is a two time winner of the R&M Security, Premier Speedway Maintenance Committee Best Presented Car and Crew Award!

With the support of Precision Autos in Launceston, Jackson Motor Company and Titan Garages and Carports, Bricknell is another of the new generation who will be more than comfortable in providing some very intense competition for the American Invaders come Classic time.

All race fans are reminded that tickets go on sale for all race meetings at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool, including the 43rd Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, from November 3, 2014.

All intending competitors are reminded that nomination forms for the 43rd Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic are available via the Premier Speedway website or by contacting the office on (03) 5565 1789.

The 43rd Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic as supported by Oval Express Magazine, GJ Gardner Homes, KRE Race Engines and the Lady Bay Resort Warrnambool will be held at Premier Speedway on January 23, 24 & 25, 2015.

    End Release.
