THE Tuesday night meeting at the Motorplex had the hallmarks of a good start to the season for Shaun Bradford.

He was quickest in qualifying in his group and then converted a P10 start into a sixth in his first heat race.

Next time out he started on pole and finished second to Ryan Farrell in a result that put the pair of them on the front row for the 25-lap feature race.

The third-generation racer was looking strong until midrace distance when he started dropping back through the field, losing car speed.

The next day it was revealed the motor had a broken valve spring and making matters worse one of the four engine mounts had completely torn off from the chassis.

Prior to that Bradford was very fast and recorded his best lap on lap five – cutting a 13.570-second lap at 132.646km/h.

The quickest in the feature race was winner Ryan Farrell who circulated in 13.207 seconds on lap 10 for 136.291km/h.

HE might have been racing on Tuesday night but on Wednesday he was welcoming his first child into this world.

Congratulations to David Priolo and wife Melissa on the birth of ‘Cruz Priolo’.

On Tuesday night Priolo was very fast in the Watsons Express Transport #8 before withdrawing from the high-speed contest with engine dramas on lap 19.

This week it will all be about getting used to life as a dad but late next week he will also be dealing with defending the Magic Man 34 title he won at the Perth Motorplex last year.

The 34 lap race pays tribute to former champion Michael Figliomeni.

Stay tuned on the weekend for a video interview where we talk to Priolo about what the Magic Man event and the strong connection with the Figliomeni family means to him.
