• Bordertown resident Dylan Jenkin secured the biggest win of his Sprintcar career as he won the 7th Annual CBS Bins Bill Wigzell Battle of the Bridge at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway on Saturday night. After starting from the front row Jenkin drove a patient race sitting behind race leader Darren Mollenoyux for a majority of the final before making his race winning move with only three laps remaining.

“This win has been a long time coming. During the off season we made a few changes and they have paid off already. There is no doubt this is the biggest win of my career” added an emotional winner on the podium.

Second across the line was Victorian Darren Mollenoyux with Steve Caruso, who qualified for the 30 lap final on pole, completing the top three. Fourth across the line was Scott Bogucki with Mark Caruso and local Ryan Jones completing the top six. Unfortunately the result could have been a lot better for Jones as he spun in turn two just after the mid-way point while battling for the race lead.

With the Battle of the Bridge doubling up as the opening round of the 2014/15 Queensland Speedway Spares SA Sprintcar Shootout Series, Jenkin now leads the points going into round 2 at Speedway City on November 1.

Earlier the heat wins were shared between Brad Keller, Ryan Jones, Jamie Cobby, Steven Caruso, Jenkin and Mollenoyux. Jenkin’s heat win proved to be a lucky one as his right rear tyre exploded as he crossed the line after earlier contact with the lapped car of Aidan Hall.

Unfortunately the Dash had to be cancelled due to time constraints while Terry and Hayden Pitt, Leith Ahlfors and Luke Bowey transferred from the B-Main.

During the night there several incidents including in the opening heat when race leader Matt Egel rolled insight of the chequered flag after contact with the ailing lapped car of Daniel Pestka, Steven Lines rolled out the B-Main while Brendan Quinn had a spectacular roll over after contact with Glen Sutherland.
