The newest member of the Valvoline Raceway Commentary team is third generation Speedway racer Michaela Dumesny.

25 year old, Michaela, the daughter of legendary racer Max and former Sprintcar racer Melinda, received the surprise call-up from Valvoline Raceway Manager Steven Green yesterday.

“We’ve been brainstorming ideas for a new pit reporter role,” says Green, “and we considered who would be a good fit for working with our commentary team of Stuart McCarthy and Wade Aunger. We needed somebody that the fans could relate to, somebody who knew the sport and somebody who was on good terms with the racers. Michaela ticked all those boxes.”

Originally planning to race herself this season Michaela has had to curtail those plans and was pleased to receive the surprise second option.

“I had planned on racing this season but it was going to be in winged Sprintcars not wingless if I could raise some sponsorship money. The sponsorship options weren’t showing a lot of promise so I was starting to wonder what I’d be doing during the summer. Then this opportunity came along to work in the commentary team. I’m very excited.”

Michaela will handle pit-reporting duties and will feature prominently in the new-look race nights at Valvoline Raceway where the 40 square metre Giant Video Screen will revolutionise the way that Sydney fans enjoy their weekly action.

The 2014/2015 season kicks off with Grand Opening Night on Saturday, October 4, 2014 with Sprintcars, Speedcars, Legend Cars and the season’s first Demolition Derby.
