• The ‘off-season’ may well have been the shortest on record for the ECP Racing Team as they kick off the 2014/2015 season tonight at Cairns Speedway for the first round of the three-city three-round East Coast Sprintcar Series.
“It seems like we’ve only just finished the last season and here we are again,” grinned Farr this morning, “it seems to have come around a lot quicker than usual.”
    Which, in fact, it has.
Starting racing in August in Australia is pretty well unheard of outside NT but Farr is keen to get some laps in ahead of most of the competition.
“We’ve done some significant testing at Toowoomba Speedbowl recently and it was very, very encouraging,” Farr continues, “the new car reacted very well to the changes we tried and Nick and I came away feeling that we’ll have a very good package to begin the new season.”
Cairns is not a location that is unfamiliar to Robbie Farr who last raced there almost a decade ago.
“I’m not good with history but I’m pretty sure I remember us finishing on the podium the last time there. I’m excited about going back.”
Over the next three weekends the series will see visits to Cairns, Mackay (Round Two) and Toowoomba for the final round.
“This is a good deal,” Farr admits, “it’s great to get some good laps in against some good teams this early in the season. Congratulations to Woodsy (Alan Woods) for putting this deal on.”
The 2014/2015 season for ECP Racing will see the usual massive highway and multi-state and multi-track commitment, with an extra influence on attending the newly purchased Valvoline Raceway in Parramatta throughout the season and in December two international shows in New Zealand.
