It’s a fact that consistency is the key to success. For Peter Campbell, it was certainly the key to his 2013-14 season Queensland Lightning Sprint Racing Association Club Championship success.

Held last Saturday night at the Ipswich Turf Club, the QLSRA Club Championship was awarded to Campbell, who defeated Scott Genrich and Jim Kennedy in the final point standings.

Campbell managed to win a total of four feature races, but rarely finished off the podium. The highlights of the season for him was his second place in the Australian Title and a third place in the Queensland Title.

Despite winning nine feature races throughout the season, Genrich fell one spot short in the QLSRA Club Championship spoils and finished in second behind a more consistent Campbell.

The QLSRA Club Championship podium was completed by Kennedy in third. It wasn’t one of Kennedy’s best seasons, but he was consistent enough to bank enough points for third place.

As one would expect, Campbell was thrilled to be crowned the QLSRA Club Championship.

“Scott (Genrich) has been the form driver all season, but I was pleased to be able to come away with the club championship win by being more consistent,” he expressed.

“Although I would’ve liked to have won more feature races, but I wasn’t able to. I’m now looking forward to next season, and I want to build on this season and try and compete for more feature-race wins.”
The other award winners on the night were Tony Norton (Driver’s Driver), Dave Van Vegchel (Most Imported), Ian Galvin (B Grade point score winner), Trent Schofield (Rookie of the Year), Sean Hill (Most Consistent), Jason Busk and Shane Matthews (Commitment to Racing), Leanne Baxter (Club Person of the Year), and Ron Eager and Keith Blatch (Appreciation awards).
