• Jackson Delamont recently completed his most successful Sprintcar season of his short career as he contested the 2014 Easter Sprintcar Trail conducted throughout Victoria and South-East South Australia. During the opening two nights of the three round series Delamont displayed the pace required to be a real force in the overall standings but a tough run at Warrnambool resulted in the talented racer finishing the grueling schedule ninth on the points chart.

    Night 1: Avalon Raceway:

Jackson started the night by Time Trialing 4th before finishing 3rd and 7th in his heat races. During heat 2 Jackson actually rolled his #48 Maxim after contact but as he was able to restart and finish the heat with the result locking him into the A-Main. From this point he went on to record a creditable 7th placed result on what was a difficult racing surface.

“The A-Main was one of the most difficult tracks I have raced on the car spent most of the time on two wheels so we were very happy to finish in 7th spot” added Jackson.

    Night 2: Mount Gambier:

Night 2 got off to a positive start for Jackson as he recorded the 3rd fastest time in qualifying which was a career best qualifying effort. According to Jackson the #48 Maxim was on a rail as he finished 2nd in the first heat and 8th in his second. His heat performances were good enough to start from position 8 in the final but on a very fast racetrack it proved difficult to move forward and he went on to finish the final in position 9.

“I was running 7th for most of the race until I got in a bit high and bicycled and two cars went underneath me leaving me in the 9th spot which was where I finished the race. It was a real shame as we had a lot better car than the results showed”.

“I really must thank Glen Beaton who gave us some very helpful tips before qualifying and they also helped later in the night as I did the 2nd fastest time of the night in my heat race of 10.544 seconds so the car felt really good all night” added Jackson in an appreciative manner.

    Night 3: Warrnambool:

After two great nights Jackson’s luck came to an end at Warrnambool as the wing valve broke following engine starts and it blew all of the power steering oil out meaning Jackson had to time trial with no power steering. Right from the start of the night he was on the back foot as he qualified 26th on a very slick Premier Speedway racing surface.

With no time to fix the issue prior to his opening heat Jackson drove from position 6 in the starting order to 4th in heat one, with no power steering, before fixing the issue prior to second heat. With the car repaired he climbed as high as second before he made a slight error and hit a slick patch spinning the car to a stop.

This placed Jackson in the C-Main and while battling for the final transfer spot he was involved in an incident and he had to get out of the gas to avoid making contacting with the wall and after losing several spots he decided to pull infield to conserve the race car.

“Overall we were very happy with our weekend we exceeded our expectations on the first two nights which was a perfect way to end what has been our best season to date. We will continue to work at it and learn as much as we can so that we can have strong results like the ones we had in last few race meetings. It is a credit to how hard our team works at doing the best we can every night and this year has been a blast and we can’t wait for next season” added Jackson.

“I would like to thank Dad and Pop for all they do for me and everyone who has given us advice or helped us out in any way. Also a special thanks to the Veal Family for letting us wash and do our maintenance at their work shop on Sunday, every little bit of help is appreciated while you are away from home”.

“Currently we are planning to contest the World Series Sprintcars Championship again next season so we are seeking a sponsor for the 2014/2015 season to make that happen”.

Jackson would like to thank his Grand Father and former Sprintcar racer Harry Delamont for his ongoing support through his business, Mad Harry’s Steel, and Steel Supplies for their ongoing support throughout the 2013/14 Sprintcar season.
