• Last night two new South Australian Champions were crowned at the Murray Machining & Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway as Darren Kane claimed the Super Sedan Championship in one of the best Super Sedan races seen in South Australia for many years while Mark Brown continued his domination of the Easter Weekend as he clinched the State Speedcar Championship.

In what can only be described as a dominant performance Darren Kane was unstoppable all night as he remained undefeated throughout the night posting the quickest lap during Time Trials (13.134 seconds) before winning both of his heats and collecting a new 10 lap track record along the way (2:20.6). But he didn’t have it all his own in the final as eventual runner-up Kodee Brown actually took the lead midway through in the 35 lap finale but Kane fought back in what was a torrid but extremely clean battle.

Third across the line was newly crowned Victorian Champion Peter Nicola with defending State Champion Dave Gartner the best of the locals in fourth. Former Australian Champion Mick Nicola completed the top five ahead of Western Australia’s Dustin Higgs, current National Champ Matt Pascoe, Ryan Alexander, Wayne Randall and Lucas Roberts.

Victorian Ash Bergmeier, Bill Miller, Jason McPherson, Steve Latham and Sean Black were the only other finishers.

Prior to the A-Main Sam Hughes, Matt Williams, McPherson and Black transferred to the back of the 20 car field via the B-Main.

In the State Speedcar Title Brown and Queenslander Anthony Chaffey continued their battle from the previous night at the Tolmer Speedway as they once again filled out the top two positions on the podium with Adam Wallis completing the top three.

Just like he did at Bordertown Brown led the entire race journey after starting from the pole position but he had to work extremely hard as Chaffey was right on the tail of the Rod Bennett owned machine for the entire race distance. Fourth across the line was Victorian Paul Farrell with Todd Waddell having another great run to round out the top five. Graham Knuckey was the best of the locals in sixth but at one point he was actually running third but he faded late in the race. Jamie Crouch, Ben Dillon, Tim Caddy, Jamie Matherson and Craig Smith were the only other classified finishers.

Tonight the Super Sedan and Speedcar action will continue at Speedway City with the Super Sedan Fireball Derby and the Speedcar Stampede, which will double as the final round of the Speedcar Tri City Series.
