• The final round of the 2013-14 AHG Sprintcar Series will be decided at the Perth Motorplex tonight.

South Australian ace Luke Dillon took out a hard fought win in the 30-lap Salute to The General John Day event last night and jumped to the top of the standings.

The pointscore leader Jamie Maiolo was sitting in a handy fourth spot in the latter stages of the event when smoke gushed from his machine and he dropped back two places on the final lap to finish sixth.

This result gave Dillon a five point advantage over Maiolo heading into tonight's Gold Cup finale.

Dillon only has to finish in front of Maiolo to claim the series honours.

Maiolo needs to cross the line three places ahead of his rival - which would give him a one point advantage.

Or if Maiolo wins the Gold Cup then he takes the title if Dillon is third or lower.

But it is not just those two who could emerge as the victor.

Brad Maiolo, Mark Wells or Jason Kendrick could also win - but they would need to be high up in the finishing order and have Dillon and Maiolo well back in the placings or not finishing the event.

All will be revealed tonight at the Perth Motorplex.
