• THERE is no doubt about it…it takes a massive commitment to run a full season in the AHG Sprintcar Series.

Callum Williamson and the Williamson Motorsport operation based in Geraldton are one of the teams that are in it for the long haul and will be part of the series double header grand final weekend at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night.

Williamson, who finished third in the season behind Cameron Gessner and Mark Wells last season, goes into the final weekend seventh on the points.

The Geraldton team will be looking to race up the points tally after good runs in The General Firecracker tribute show to John Day on Saturday night and the Gold Cup Grand Final on Sunday night.

Williamson earnt enough points during the season to qualify for The Chase (top 12) and be eligible for the championship over the final four rounds.

In The Chase round one on March 15 he finished the feature race in 15th, two laps off the pace.

Last weekend, at the same venue, Williamson had a much stronger run in the 30-lap DiCandilo Steel City Silver Cup, finishing ninth.

This was after he claimed a third and a fifth in the heat races.

How will he go this weekend?

Be at the Perth Motorplex both nights to find out.
