• NOS Racing Parts sponsor of the Sally Trigg owned Victoria # 5 Lightning Sprint was extremely pleased to see it’s supported driver Luke McCutcheon cross the finish line at Bordertown’s Tolmer Speedway in first place taking out round one of the NOS Racing Parts series for Lightning Sprints on December the 14th during a packed program that included Sprintcar racing and a great crowd.

McCutcheon began heat one in pole position and made the most of the position when he went on to win heat one by around 1/3rd of a lap from Chris James & Jason Wilson.

Crew Chief Brian Trigg led the team to change the car set up to suit a black coated track after the Sprintcars had a stint on the speedway and discovered they went to far with the changes as McCutcheon started in third and remained in third with the car hooked up to the right rear way to much leaving McCutcheon handling a beast that just wanted to roll over in every turn during heat two leaving James and Wilson to cross the line ahead of McCutcheon.

The crew set about changing the car again in readiness for the feature race with everybody pitching in to get the car changed as quick as possible for the front row position two start.

At the green in the final McCutcheon used the high line and drove around James on lap one and immediately began to pull away. He victory was never in doubt and when the chequered flag unfurled McCutcheon had crossed the line with the length of the straight lead.

McCutcheon was pleased with the results. “For us even though it was round one of the NOS Racing Parts series in which we were keen to win, it was still a testing event for us to get a few things sorted before we get into some of the bigger fields of cars back at Murray Bridge. Hopefully in February more cars will come to Borderline for round two whilst it was great to run with Chris & Jason tonight at Tolmer.”

McCutcheon after round one of the NOS Racing Parts series leads by 22 points over Chris James.
