Good morning race fans and welcome to day one of the Fuch's Australian Sprintcar Championship!

Last night... A large turnout of the Australia Sprintcar fraternity consisting of drivers, teams, officials, promoters, sponsors, media and fans, etc gathered in Adelaide last night for the annual Australian Sprintcar Championship Calcutta.

The event was staged at the Globe Derby Raceway, a horse trotting track located less than 10 minutes south of Speedway City and 25 minutes to the north of Adelaide’s CBD.

Upon arrival the guests walked up the entrance path where the legendary SA88 Suddenly driven by Bill Wigzell greeted the guests. It was ‘almost’ like a red carpet, but without the carpet as many of the who’s who of speedway stopped to have their photos with the purple beast and if you timed it right you even got to have a photo with Bill himself!

The fairer sex were gorgeous all dressed up and the guys scrubbed up pretty well also!

The event was hosted by Wade Aunger and Jimmy Shone and these two characters entertained the guests throughout the evening. The Calcutta raised a substantial amount of money and four lucky investors will go home as happy as the drivers they back should they finish in the top four place getters, as for the rest, well it was money well spent at a most enjoyable evening!

A charity auction was also part of the evening along with a few speeches by the big wigs of the game! The SA Sprintcar club also handed out many prizes and the sponsors of the donations were well promoted and thanked for their efforts and yeah the company and food was great!

Today we go out to the track and the race faces will be on as we get set to find out who is the best driver in the land!
