Kendrick Racing Team Highs And Lows At Australian Title

The Australian Sprintcar Championship in Darwin started off so well for the Kendrick Racing team but ended in utter disappointment last weekend.
Leading driver Kerry Madsen won the preliminary feature race on the first night of the championship and started on the pole for the all-important 40-lap feature race to crown the new champion on night two.
“We won our eighth feature race of the season at the start but unfortunately the ninth feature race win went begging, as did our bid to be Australia #1,” team principal Geoff Kendrick said.
An incident at the front of the pack with fellow front runner Ryan Farrell saw Madsen’s #92 ride slammed into the fence and destroyed.
Kendrick said it was a bitter pill for the team to swallow.
“Right from the get-go from the hot laps we were on the money and we were so confident with our set-ups we even time trialled with old tyres on,” Kendrick said.
“Kerry just concentrated on picking up as many points as he could and we were doing it pretty easy.
“Unfortunately the incident with another driver was a major disappointment for all our team who put so much effort into the campaign and for our sponsors who also put so much into it.”
The #11 car driven by Jason Kendrick was an early casualty.
“Unfortunately he had a uni-joint explode in one of the heats which created a lot of collateral damage.
“We could have put the whole team on it to get him ready for the second night but he would have started too far down the list so we decided to park Jason’s car after that.”
Rather than worrying too much about what happened last weekend the team is now looking forward to some more racing before the two-trailer transporter heads back to Perth.
Madsen has returned to his racing commitments in America and fellow Sydney driver Troy Little will be back in the driver’s seat for a quick tour of WA’s North West.
Young Kendrick and Little will contest rounds at Port Hedland this Friday and Saturday night and at Karratha on Sunday and Monday night.
The team will be looking to make amends at these shows as they wind up their commitments for the 2009/2010 season.
