Kendrick 92.9 Racing Team Looking For A Big Weekend

I WOULD dearly love to win another King of Wings at the Perth Motorplex this weekend and claim our maiden Krikke Boys Memorial at Bunbury the following weekend,” was the simple statement from Geoff Kendrick this week. The principal of the two-car Kendrick Racing outfit can’t wait to go racing in two of the most popular races on WA’s sprintcar racing calendar.
“I last won the King of Wings with American Dean Jacobs a few years ago and would love to be standing on the podium again this Saturday night.
“And as for the Krikke Boys race, we have never won that and would like to get one on the board for a lot of personal reasons.”
The team’s assault on the two shows will be spearheaded by drivers Kerry Madsen and Jason Kendrick.
Madsen finished a strong second to Brooke Tatnell in the Southern Thunder Series race at Collie Speedway last Saturday night while Kendrick was seventh.
Madsen started the night with a 10th in time trials, before claiming a fifth and a second in his heats to start out of six in the main event.
Kendrick was 13th in qualifying and then won his first heat.
In his next outing he was fourth before starting seventh in the A Main – the same spot he finished.
For the last two weekends Madsen has been running a new Eagle chassis but it hasn’t worked as good as they would have liked. As a result they will be going back to the Eagle they drove to victory in the Kalgoorlie round of Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars a couple of weeks ago.
“We are going back to the car we know as the new one just wasn’t working the same,” Kendrick said.
As for Jason, he debuted a new car/motor package in Perth two weeks ago and liked the way he settled into the new ride – but the team opted to run their old car in Collie last week. “We really like the format for the King of Wings and we are looking forward to both drivers starting off well in qualifying and setting themselves up for two big nights of racing.
“Kerry won this race a few years ago with the Jeff Leisk team and we have won it with Dean Jacobs, so together we have a fair bit of experience in this race.”
As for his son, Kendrick also believed he would put in a competitive showing.
“I would really like Jason to get into both feature races this weekend which against the company of cars there, will be a great achievement for him.”
When visiting the Motorplex stroll down to the pits and check out the team’s impressive two-trailer transporter which will be in operation this weekend.
It will also feature a big screen on the side of one of the trailer playing adverts for the team’s loyal sponsors.
