The two-car 92.9 Kendrick Racing Team heads to Collie Speedway this Saturday night for a round of the Southern Thunder Series and team principal Geoff Kendrick believes they are a good chance of winning the event.
Although the team does concede it will be a big challenge given the quality of the field that features new World Series Sprintcar champion Brooke Tatnell and a handful of other WSS stars.
Kendrick said they raced at Collie last year and enjoyed the experience. “The track was really excellent down there last year and hopefully we can go and notch up another win.”
The team will then regroup before the two-night King of Wings contest at the Perth Motorplex the following Friday and Saturday night.
“I think we can get the job done – we just need to concentrate on getting our stuff right.”
The Collie race follows a big weekend with the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Grand Final in Perth last Friday and Saturday nights. Despite not getting the results they were after the team took a lot of positives back to their Osborne Park bunker.
“I am not unhappy with our results from last weekend although we always aim to win. “We were in the A Main on the Saturday night with Kerry and were in a really good position before the red light (due to a big crash between David Priolo and Luch Monte).
“Because the reds were on for so long the tyre pressure went down on the left rear and when the race resumed it took about 10 laps for it to get going by then. “Unfortunately we ran out of laps by then.”
But to Madsen’s credit he still finished a strong fourth.
As for Jason Kendrick he was looking good for a transfer into the A Main when a shaft in the new car’s rear-end let go.
“And the rest is history but the boys put on a really good show. “Congratulation to Kerry’s brother Ian who was a real deserved winner…he did a great job.”
On another note Jason turned 21 on Wednesday and the team is hoping he will be able to celebrate in style with a big result this weekend.
“He has been driving really well lately and I think he is capable of capping it off with a win.”
